Mecalux will equip the automated pallet warehouse in the temperature-controlled distribution centre of Frigo Logistics, Poland’s leading logistics operator for deep-frozen products. The investment will also include the installation of two pallet storage systems and the installation of Easy WMS software.
“We have decided to implement state-of-the-art automated solutions into our logistics processes, because we are firmly committed to innovation. Our aim is to maintain our position as Poland’s leading logistics operator in the comprehensive handling of deep-frozen products”, explains Marcin Cichoński, Facility Manager at Frigo Logistics.
Frigo Logistics specialises in the distribution, transport and storage of frozen products, as well as in the category of dry, fresh and liquid food products. The newly built distribution centre in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki will be equipped with a complex solution from Mecalux: automation, software and storage systems. “Thanks to this investment, we will be able to react dynamically to fluctuations in the volumes of our clients and recipients, especially during the summer season, holiday periods and long weekends. Our mission is to provide the best possible services, and the automation of operations is certainly a great support for this”, adds Marcin Cichoński, Facility Manager at Frigo Logistics.
The automated warehouse, 36 metres high, will feature six aisles of double-deep racking with a capacity of 15,000 pallets. In each aisle, loads will be picked up and deposited by a stacker crane in a fully automatic manner. The installation, which will have a controlled temperature of -20ºC, will be supplied with an inerting system.
The automated warehouse will be connected to the distribution warehouse by means of shuttle cars and a conveyor line. In this area Mecalux will install pallet racking and Movirack mobile racking with a total capacity of 6000 pallets.
Easy WMS will be responsible for the control and optimisation of the facility's operations. It will assign an appropriate location to each item according to the category and the current level of demand. “Traceability of goods is one of key requirements for companies like ours, which manage temperature-controlled food products. Maintaining the cold chain fully at each stage so that the deep-frozen products retain the highest quality is our priority”, admits Marcin Cichoński, Facility Manager at Frigo Logistics.
